‘The Heath and The Joy of Being’

Oh, such vibrant life. Small leafed and wiry plants of different greens thrive in densely packed abundance. Amongst them, tiny birds twitter about here and there, insects buzz, a frog croaks, a lizard scurries in the dried leaves and twigs and a thin tree stands tall. The joy of being fills my conscious space. – CS

Original painting by Carollyne Smithson in mixed media (watercolours, acrylic inks, white gouache and calligraphy ink) of native heathland on Topham Track, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Sydney, Australia. Completed 2020.
